RESUME:
Xiumin Chen graduated from Guizhou Medical college in 2009.07. She got her Master (2010.09-2013.07; Pharmacognosy) and Doctor (2016.01-2019.06; Neuroscience) degree in Peking University and Queensland University, respectively. During PhD, Xiumin hadworked on the physiological, pathological and pharmacological properties of GABA receptors and NMDA receptors related to epilepsy. From 2019.08 to 2024.01, Xiumin had joined University of California in San Francisco for her Post-Doctoral work inUS academician Roger Nicoll’s lab. Shethen started to work on synaptic proteins such as PSD-95 and CaMKII, to investigate their function on neuronal basal transmission and synaptic plasticity. Since 2024.01, Dr. Chenhas joined in the Institute of Neuroscience in Soochow Universityas a distinguished professor.
Specialty: The physiological properties of synaptic proteins and their pathological properties related to epilepsy and cognitive disorder
Synapse is a critical structure connect between neurons, used for neuronal information transmission. Synaptic proteins distributed each side of synapse and directly or indirectly participate in almost all the neuronal physiological functions. When the synaptic protein’s structure got abnormal, neuronal disease occurred, such as epilepsy and cognitive disorder.Chen’s lab currently focuseson the synaptic proteins of LGI 1, ADAM22, PSD-95, CaMKII and NMDA receptors, using electrophysiology technique, to investigate the physiological, pathological and pharmacological properties of these proteins. Dr. Chen’s previous work had published in Science, PNAS, Cell Reports, Elife, Neurobiology Disease, Neuropharmacology.
