Invited by associate Professor Lifang Hu, Dr. Guangdong Yang from Lakehead University , Canada gave a brilliant talk entitled  “ H2S signalling in DNA damage and cellular aging”  in Institute of Neuroscience at 10:00am, Aug 8, 2014. The faculties and students from Institute of Neuroscience and School of Medicine attended this seminar and gave Dr. Yang  a warm welcome.

      Dr. Guangdong Yang’s research interest focuses on the signaling role and mechanism of H2S in cardiovascular and related diseases. During the past decade, he has published several articles in the top journals including Science, PNAS, JBC, ARS, and others. During the talk, he introduced  that through sulfhydration modification of anti-apoptotic proteins and Keap1, H2S enhanced the resistance of cells against oxidative stress and senescence and thus delayed the aging processes.His findings inspired our PIs and students.  After the lecture, Dr. Yang  had a deep, beneficial and inspiring communication with our faculties and students, and discussed other research progress in neuroscience field.
