Prof. Peter Illes, academician of the European Academy of Sciences, deputy editor in chief of the Purinergic Signalling magazine, Current Neuropharmacology editorial board. The German Purine Club founder and first president. Leading the Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft(DFG) Germany P2 receptor research project: The German Research Unit Neuronal and glial "P2 receptors molecular basis and functional significance". Based on Leipzig, Aachen and Berlin, the international cooperation network of purine signaling research has been established. It is an internationally recognized leader in purine signaling research.
